Young at Heart

Young at Heart – a ministry to, for, and with older adults – is open to all FUMC members 50 years and over and their friends.

Young at Heart is a social and travel group with no dues, fees – or any other financial requirement – that holds a regular noon luncheon meeting the third Tuesday of every month that’s preceeded by a program.  In addition, it provides and disseminates information and educational materials of interest to the members through its own mailed monthly newsletter and the weekly Young at Heart radio program which airs every Wednesday morning from 7:30 to 8:15am over station WHIE, 1320 AM.

Members also travel the fourth Tuesday of the month for either a local or regional day trip or, occasionally, leave for an overnight destination.  In addition, other trips at variable days are periodically taken, as well as selected social and/or educational programs that may be of interest to the members.

Among its other activities are a 4th of July picnic, support of the local food pantry and interacting with other FUMC and community groups and events.  On an individual basis, members also volunteer their services and expertise to innumerable community, educational and civic organizations.
