Michael Oye:  News from Nigeria

July 2015-Foreign Missionary Update-Michael Oye-Nigeria

Greetings were received this week from Michael and Mildred Oye.  Their letter included progress in the faith ministry as well as teachings of natural healing and farming.

March sent the Oyes to plant and fellowship with villages in OSOGBO Diocese of Methodist Churches in Nigeria.  God blessed this trip with 700 new converts to Christ, followed by Michael’s extensive training of pastors and lay members who are appointed to head those congregations.

April concluded with Dr. Oye’s ordination of five pastors and nine deacons/deaconesses at His Grace Baptist Church.  Its pastor is a personal friend and we encourage each other in our missions.

CRUDAN (Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria) had its annual seminar led by Dr. Oye, teaching on the topic “The Responsibilities of Board and Its Members”.

Mildred is furthering her education to obtain her masters at West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS) Lagos.  Michael spoke to its students who are from many diversified denominations and countries.  Fifty students stood to receive salvation through Jesus.

Organic farming seminars filled up the month of May, including discussions on the natural way to healthy living, organic farming, and the benefits of holy living.

The Oyes traveled to JOS to inaugurate a new ministry of Natural Healing originated by the Olowookers, a couple Michael had trained in naturopathy.  Their ceremony totally glorified Christ.  This man is a dentist and his wife a barrister by profession(s).

Dr. Oye has been a part of our church family for over two decades. The FUMC Mission Committee encourages each of our congregants to correspond with the Oye’s to personally encourage and pray for them.  They love mail, as we all do.
