The worship service is known by an inviting community that seeks to follow Christ and love people. The Branch is a great place to come if you do not have a church home or have never been to church before. It is open for people of all ages, backgrounds, races, and stages in the faith.   You will find vibrant music led by our praise band, food that helps to form a sense of community, and engaging messages that are Biblical and relevant today.

Holy Week


From Palm Sunday to Easter, there is a lot happening at Griffin First UMC!

Sunday, April 9  PALM SUNDAY

Palm/Passion Sunday Worship Celebration (8:45 and 11:00 a.m. Traditional and 11:00 a.m. Contemporary services)

Monday, April 10 – Friday, April 14

Lenten Lunches– Join us each day of Holy Week between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for lunch and a Lenten devotional.  On MAUNDY THURSDAY we will go to the Sanctuary after lunch and enjoy a Lenten organ recital by Dr. Richard Chewning, our organist.

Thursday, April 13  MAUNDY THURSDAY

Maundy Thursday Communion Service– 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.  The Chancel Choir, Chancel Bells, and Wesley Choir present the cantata “Love Unknown” by Michael Burkhardt, accompanied by organ, professional brass quartet, and other instruments.

Friday, April 14  GOOD FRIDAY

Meditation Stations– Join us for a special time of reflection that engages all of our senses.  Take a self-guided tour through various locations on our campus to experience the sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and textures of Holy Week.   Meditate on scripture passages and communicate with God in prayer.  The stations are available from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and following the Passion Mime until approximately 8:00 p.m.  Begin in the Prayer Labyrinth in the Sanctuary narthex and follow the suggested circuit or branch out on your own.

Passion Mime– See the story of Jesus’ life and death presented with powerful music and silent acting as our Youth Drama Team presents the Passion Mime at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Glow-in-the-Dark Easter Egg Hunt for Grades 2-5–  Meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for pizza and we will begin as soon as it is dark enough.

Saturday, April 15

Easter Egg Hunt for Walkers through 1st Grade– meet at 10:00 a.m. by the playgrounds.

Sunday, April 16  EASTER

Easter Sunrise Service– 7:00 a.m. in the Memorial Garden (note the new location!)

Pancake Breakfast (sponsored by the Youth Ministry)- Reception Room

Sunday School for all ages– 9:45 a.m.
